Are the tax tables any use for valuing a truck?
They are a tax reference, not a real value. Those tables are designed for cars and barely reflect commercial configurations; on a truck, value is set by the trade market, the configuration and the condition. That is why the valuation uses comparables rather than a table.
How is a trailer or semi-trailer valued?
By body type and use, chassis and suspension condition, axles, brakes and a current roadworthiness certificate. With no odometer of its own, real condition and maintenance weigh even more than on a tractor unit.
What if the mileage does not match the tachograph?
Then there is a hard figure to check against: the tachograph records the vehicle's kilometres, and they remain in the downloaded files and in the test records. Where those records do not match the odometer, the report documents it and the sale starts to unravel.
